Reaction Strikes Could Bring You Bigger Bass

Monday, March 31st, 2008

By Charles White When the lake you’re fishing has a lot of fishingpressure, trying to get a reaction strike might just be theticket you need to catch that big old lunker. Why? Well, for one thing the bass will be cautious about biting a regular presented lure. They have seen to many of them andprobably knows the end results. This is also true in tournamentfishing. Seems like the 3rd day of any tournament is always theslowest with less fish caught. This is because the anglers havebeat the water to death with the usual presentation of their lures. So, why does a bass hit a reaction strike presented lure? Out ofaggression! They don’t even have to be hungry and they’ll strike a reaction presented lure. When a bass is on a bed about the only way you are going to get it to hit is from a reaction strike. It will come over and pick up the lure to move it out of the bed if it thinks it is intruding. When the summer get here the bass don’t cruise for food, theyusually stay close to one place and wait for the baitfish. Thesame holds true in cold water when their metabolism slows down. When a cold front comes in, bass will stick close to cover. You can try a fast retrieve with a spinnerbait or crankbait to draw them out. Some methods for reaction strikes are: Use noise……like a buzzbait or Jitterbug Repetition….just go over the same spot over and over with yourlure. Big lures…….use a big swimbait. Using more than one lure……..have several rods with differenttype lures attached and throw them in the same spot, one rightafter the other. Movement……use a tube and jerk it off the bottom 2 feet ormore, or pop a jig. High speed retrieves….this technique is the most well known toget a reaction strike. Just retrieve at a high speed and reel fast. If the lake you’re fishing has slowed down after the summer started due to more fishing pressure, try for a reaction strike. You may just catch the biggest bass of your life. Charles E. White has fished 50 years for bass from California to Florida. In his lifetime, it is estimated that he has caught over 6,000 bass. His biggest bass is a 12 pound 14 ounce that hangs on his wall in his office. His tips and techniques have helped many people who have never fished for bass before become successful anglers. He also has fished with the Pros in Florida. Acupuncture - Why is it a Good Form of Alternative Treatment

Saturday, March 29th, 2008

By Kerris Samson You will find that most modern acupuncturists now use disposable stainless steel needles of a diameter of about 0.18 to 0.51 mm and which have been sterilized using either ethylene oxide or an autoclave machine. The upper third of the needle is wound round with a thicker wire (normally bronze) or is covered in plastic, which helps to stiffen the needle and provide a handle which the acupuncturist can hold whilst inserting the needles. It all depends on what style of acupuncture is being practiced as to the size and type of needle used as well as the depth to which the needle is inserted. Sometimes the warming of an acupuncture point by moxibustion (or the burning of mugwort) is a different form of treatment to acupuncture and is often, though not exclusively used as a supplemental treatment. The Chinese term of Zhen jig which is commonly used to refer to acupuncture come from the word Zhen meaning needle and Jiu meaning moxibustion. Moxibustion is still used today in varying degrees in the many schools of oriental medicine and one well known technique still being used is the insertion of the needle at the desired acupuncture point and then dried mugwort is attached to the external end of the needle and ignited. What happens is that the mugwort will smolder for several minutes (all depending on how much has been put on the needle) and the heat produced will be conducted through the needle to the tissue around that needle in the patients body. Another method that some practitioners will use is that they hold a large glowing stick of moxa above the needles and occasionally the moxa will actually be burned on the skins surface, however a layer of ointment will be applied to the skin so as to protect it from getting burnt. Today many people who suffer from vascular headaches (those that are accompanied by a throbbing sensation around the veins in the temple) will typically treat it with an analgesic such as aspirin or by other agents that help to dilate the affected blood vessels in the scalp. But acupuncture is now becoming a common treatment for such headaches by the use of stimulating the sensitive points that are located roughly in the center of the webs between a persons thumb and the palm of their hand (the he gu points). These points are noted in acupuncture theory as being the ones for targeting the face and head and are considered to be the most important points when having to treat disorders that affect a patients face and head. The patient is placed in a reclined position and the points on each hand are sterilized with alcohol and then the acupuncturist will insert the needles to a depth of about 3-5mm until the patient feels a twinge and is sometimes accompanied by a slight twitching in the area between the thumb and hand. In fact most patients will tell you that they feel a pleasurable tingling sensation in this area and also feel relaxed whilst the needles are inserted. The needles are left inserted in the patient for 15-20 minutes as the patient rests and then they will be removed. However, some patients frequently report that one or more certain kinds of sensation are being felt that are associated with this treatment and these sensations are stronger than those that would normally be felt by a patient not suffering from vascular types of headaches. Such as: An extreme sensitivity to pain at the points in the webs of the thumbs. A bad headache, including a feeling of nausea which usually last for as long as the stimulation is being administered to the particular points in the webs of the thumbs. An immediate relief of the headache. Plus one added benefit of using this form of treatment is not having to take drugs which can have side effects that could actually cause more problems rather than cure them. Kerris Samson a work from home mum now residing in Spain and who has spent a vast amount of researching the different ways in which acupuncture can help in place of conventional western medicine when treating various forms of illness and ailments and also for use to relieve pain. Is the Bible Merely Writings of Men Affected by Culture and Circumstances?

Friday, March 28th, 2008

By David Becker To non believers and carnal beings, the Word of God is insignificant to them and their lives. These people falsely challenge the infallibility and truthfulness of the Bible, by suggesting that it is merely a collection of human written essays, letters and laws, combined together to form a book that controls weak and foolish people. To faithful believers, the Word of God is The Holy Bible. It was written by men divinely inspired and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. It is a perfect treasure of divine instruction. It has God for its author, salvation for its end, and truth, without any mixture of error, for its matter. Therefore, all Scripture is totally true and trustworthy. It reveals the principles by which God judges us, and therefore is, and will remain to the end of the world, the true center of Christian union, and the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and religious opinions should be tried. The Bible, in it’s entirety and as originally composed, is the Word of God written. In every detail, both the form and content of the Bible are inspired by God and essential to the message of the Bible. We declare that the assertions of the Bible are absolutely true regardless of the distances of time and culture. Any copy of the Bible is profitable and remains the inerrant, infallible Word of God, to the extent that its translation communicates clearly and accurately the meaning intended by the words of the authors of the Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts at the time they were written. The Bible is the only authoritative source for Christian faith and practice, and it is the supreme standard by which all human conduct, creeds, and opinions of any kind should be tried. There is no realm of life, belief, or investigation over which the Bible does not have supreme authority. The authority of the Bible derives solely from the fact that it has God as its author, and not from recognition by any church, individual judgment, experience, practicality or conformity to other beliefs or knowledge. The Bible consists by definition of all written material which is inspired by God. The Bible received entry as they were recognized by Christian consensus to be inspired, and that the composition was not of the church’s making. The inspired Bible is the 39 commonly received books of the Old Testament and the 27 books of the New Testament, each as they were originally composed. The order of books is of little or no help in biblical interpretation. The words contained within the Bible are all equally inspired and true, and are on the same level of inspiration and truthfulness as the words spoken by Jesus Himself. Biblical revelation is progressive: while the quality of revelation never changed, the quantity increased, so that the fullest revelation comes with the completion of the later parts of the New Testament. The Bible is completely inerrant, meaning that everything it asserts explicitly or implicitly, on any subject, is true in the sense intended by the LORD GOD. The believer’s confidence in the Spirit’s authorship of the Bible should derive from the internal conviction of the Holy Spirit Himself, rather than from human authority, tradition, intuition, personal appeal, or evidence. The doctrine of the complete inerrancy of the Bible as originally written is absolutely essential to any theology which would call itself Christian, and that anything short of this is heresy and unbelief, and tends toward the destruction of faith. Perceived inconsistencies or inaccuracies in the words or meanings of the Bible are the reader’s misperceptions. It is a worthwhile task to discover the resolutions of such apparent errors, but that some may be beyond present human discovery, and that in any case it is unnecessary to resolve these conflicts to be confident of the complete truthfulness of the Bible. The Bible infallibly accomplishes all the purposes for which it was intended. All Scripture is a testimony to Christ, who is Himself the focus of divine revelation. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. (John 1:1-2 AV) And that is where the focus must be….the divine revelation of Christ. Jesus Christ IS the Word of God. To suggest that the writings in the Word of God is affected heavily by culture and personal circumstances, would falsely suggest that Christ is the creation of man. He is not. Jesus Christ is the Word of God, and the begotten son of the LORD GOD. The Bible, which expresses this Word of God is inerrant, infallible, inspired by the LORD GOD and absolutely true regardless of time or culture. To know this truth, a man must be led toward it by the LORD GOD himself. To question it, sometimes reveals that process is beginning! 2006 David “Bucker” Becker - All Rights Reserved Worldwide. Low Carb Diet Plan - The Science Behind The Low Carb Diet

Monday, March 24th, 2008

By Michael Harris Low carb diet plans are excellent for losing weight, but as with all diets you need to take care and use some common sense when undertaking such a diet. With a little direction and knowledge a low carb lifestylecan help you maintain your weight loss. In order to pick a low carb diet that’s right for you, youfirst need to understand what carbohydrates are and the different types of carbs. Carbs are made up of either single sugars (simple carbs) or bound strings of sugar (complex carbs). Some examples of simple carbs include sucrose (table sugar),fructose (fruit sugar) and lactose (dairy sugar). Examples of complex carbs are wheat flour or potato starch. Carbs are one of the main nutrient groups your body uses for energy along with fat and protein. All three are converted to glucose or blood sugar. The difference is that carbs are converted quickly, causing quick spikes in the bodys blood sugar levels. These spikes in blood sugar levels cause the pancreas to create andrelease the hormone insulin until the blood sugar level returns to normal. Insulin lowers our bloods glucose levels. It’s released into the blood as soon as the body detects that blood sugar levels have risen above its optimal level. Insulin also runs the bodys fuel storage systems. Eating too much of simple, refined carbohydrates leads to over production of insulin, which leads to the storage of too much fat in the body. Excess sugar or fat in the blood signals the body to store it in fat cells and tell these cells not to release it.Thus their stored fat is unavailable for use by the body as energy. By preventing stored fat from being released for use as energy, insulin prevents weight loss. With higher insulin levels, fat cells are prevented from releasing their stores and it becomes harder to lose weight. Basically, what it all boils down to is that carbohydrates, especially simple carbs like sugar and starch, are quickly released into the bloodstream, turned into glucose and trigger the creation of large amounts of insulin. By lowering your carb consumption, less insulin is produced and fewer calories are stored as fat. Less fat storage means less weight gain. So the idea behind every low carb diet plan is that a body that produces less insulin burns more fat because the body’s not storing the excess glucose as fat. Some plans encourage a period of extremely low carbohydrateintake so that the body will enter a state of ketosis and burn fat stores quicker. Ketosis, the body’s survival mechanism during times of famine, is the process of burning stored fat for energy when glucose is not readily available. When your body reaches ketosis, this is what’s referred toas the “induction” phase. The length of extreme carb control varies from seven days to however long it takes you to reach your ideal weight. After this period of extremely low carb dieting, maintenance levels of carb consumption are followed to prevent weight gain. The amount of carb you can safely eat will depend onyour unique body system and your level of activity. You’ll probably have to experiment to find out what level of carb intake is right for you. The whole idea’s to cut out refined carbs such as white flour and white flour products, reduce sweets and artificially sweetened foods and consume smaller amounts ofwhole grains and raw fruits and veggies. So as you can see, with a little common sense and a littlewillpower, you can lose weight with the right low carb dietplan. Things You Can Do to Keep Your Relationship Healthy

Sunday, March 23rd, 2008

By Carl Herkes Today I will discuss some simple, yet effective techniques that will help break down walls you may be building in your relationship. It does not make any difference if you are married or not. When two people value their relationship but have differences they are failing to resolve, something must be done. If nothing is done, the relationship will degrade, eventually resulting in either a breakup, divorce or the couple staying together but living an unhappy life. You obviously didnt form your relationship with this outcome in mind. One thing that you must understand is that it will take some effort to turn things in the right direction in your relationship. Any and all relationships take some nurturing to keep them healthy and happy. If you dont believe this or are not willing to put forth any effort at all, reading this article may be a waste of your time. If you are ready to take a positive step that could produce amazing results, please read on. Constructive communication is downright scary for many couples. Too many times the recipient of the message feels they are being attacked and goes into a defensive mode, many times with a counter-attack. When this happens, not only the constructive facet of communication is lost, but future communication is also jeopardized resulting in a destructive pattern. Rules of communication must be set, agreed to, and adhered to during your conversations. Planned discussions with rules are a great way to foster constructive communication. When discussions are planned in advance by both parties, decided when and how often they are held, a potential threat of whos attacking who is removed. For example, you and your partner agree to talk about your relationship every Sunday after lunch at 1:00 PM. You agree to stick to this schedule for 2 months, after which you decide if this schedule is working well or not. If youve made a lot of progress by then, perhaps you could switch to a monthly schedule. Below, I will summarize the steps to this simple, but effective approach to healthy communication. 1. Sit down with your partner and come to agreement on the following. What times and days will you have your discussions? Agree on rules. Discussions are always to be constructive. Try to present your case in a non-aggressive manner. When you do this it makes me feel this way is a better approach than You must hate me and not care about me because you always do this Always remember to stay calm. Arguing or raising your voice is not an option. After a couple meetings, you may have most of your main issues on the table. If you get through these initial meetings, it should get easier as you go. 2. At the beginning of each meeting, each partner will take turns speaking. When one is speaking, the listener should only listen and not interject comments. This is a time for the listener to do a self-evaluation and not look for a good comeback, but truly try to see it from their partners viewpoint. The speaker should remember to follow the rules of healthy communication. Do not portray your case as blaming or you will not get the results you are seeking. You may want to take notes about what your partner is saying and read those notes throughout the week. If you care about making changes for the good of the relationship, taking notes will help you keep your partners concerns fresh in your mind so you can act on them. 3. After each of you have voiced your concerns, now its time for you (again, one at a time) to recognize each others progress since the last meeting. Discuss any changes the other has made in their habits or behavior, no matter how small. Let them know that you noticed their changes and appreciate it. Remember, it takes time to change. Dont expect rapid changes in your partner or youll disappoint yourself. If this is your very first meeting, simply tell your partner some things you appreciate about them. Finishing each meeting with positive discussion will help to lighten the air. You dont want to leave a meeting with knots in your stomach! I have shared with you some very basic techniques that can help you to make positive changes in your relationship. These techniques will only work if both partners are willing to put forth some effort, refrain from engaging in the blame game and be willing to take a serious look at their behavior. What is Property Law

Saturday, March 22nd, 2008

By Marcela Devivo Property law falls into the common law legal system and concerns all aspects of ownership of ‘real’ property (land ownership as opposed to ownership of movable possessions) and personal property (movable possessions). The concept of property law has been around since the days of ancient Rome and the emperor Justinian’s Corpus Juris Civilis, which was concerned with dividing civil law into three categories: personal status, property and acquisition of property. The concept of property law as we know it today first evolved out of France’s feudal system and was the first successful implementation of such a law, called the Napoleonic Code, based on Justinian’s ideals. Thus property has gone from lying in the hands of the monarchs and feudal systems of the middle ages to total rights of the individual property owner. However, civil law to this day still distinguishes between property laws surrounding immovable possessions, like land, and property law concerning movable possessions, like clothes, cars, etc. Property laws today ensure that a person’s legal rights and obligations surrounding their property are protected. This is a branch of law where it is especially important to be informed in, because it directly affects people more than any other sector of the law. The numbers of lawyers in existence are many; however, don’t go to just any lawyer for any disputes regarding property. Property law is a specialized field that needs the skills of a solid professional who has previous experience in property law. There are numerous intricacies, loops and holes in property law and a property lawyer can help you navigate them easily and efficiently. Under property law fall a number of topics, such as the overlap of contract law and property law, property rights vs. personal rights, possession of property, transfer of property, leases and much more. Property law, then, seems to be a blanket term that applies to any number of topics and scenarios dealing with both movable, personal property rights and movable property rights. Skin Care: Caring for your Skin in Cold Weather

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

By Sheila Dicks When temperatures drop it is time to think of how cold weather, chilling winds and dry air will affect your skin. We naturally think of bundling up during those frosty months but there are a few other considerations. 1. Keep your face protected by using heavier moisturizers, especially if you have dry skin. Always wear foundation when weathering the cold - give your face that extra protection. Don’t forget the rest of your skin and use body washes instead of harsh soaps. Use lukewarm water and keep hot water off your face and body - it’s drying in the best of times. Apply moisturizer after showering, while you skin is still damp. 2. During the winter the UV rays reflecting off the snow have an added ability to damage your skin. While skiing, snowboarding or enjoying any outdoor sports remember to wear a SPF of 15 or more. Don’t forget that UV rays can harm your eyes as well, so keep them protected with sunglasses. 3. Keep your hands dry and warm during the winter months by always wearing gloves and keep moisturizer close at all times and reapply often. 4. Winter is the worst time of the year to keep nails in good shape. To avoid brittle nails moisturize your cuticles before going to bed (I use olive oil). Always protect your hands with rubber gloves when you use cleaning products. Some are harsh and will seep into your nails and make them brittle. 5. Keep your lips protected from dry, cold air by wearing lipstick regularly. Make a habit of reapplying lipstick so your lips area always covered (except when you sleep) and you will never have chapped lips. 6. Exfoliate your face and body regularly to smooth away dry patches or prevent them. 7. Visit a spa and get pampered. Your Words Affect Your Weight Loss - Stop the Struggle

Monday, March 17th, 2008

By Kathryn Martyn, M.NLP Are you Telling Yourself It’s Too Hard to Lose Weight? Telling yourself you have to “struggle with this weight issue for the rest of my life,” is as good as telling yourself there’s no point in trying. “Why bother? I’ll just gain it right back. It’s no use. I might as well eat more cake. Poor me. Life is hard.” You know the drill. Life’s a beach and then you die. But it doesn’t have to be this way. You can change from talking trash to talking yourself right into doing what you say you want to do. Here’s how. Stop the struggle by Stopping Self Talk that Supports the Struggle You’ve heard it before — what you focus on is what you receive. Nowhere is that more true than in believing it is a struggle to stay healthy. Who would want to be healthy if it’s such a horrible chore? Yet, you’ve probably seen plenty of people who are fit, healthy and happy? You might even know a few. They seem to bounce when they walk. They’re animated, excited about life, and no, if you asked them, they probably wouldn’t say it’s a struggle. “What do you mean,” they’d ask? “Struggle? Nah, I love my life,” and they’d mean it. Forget the notion that you have to struggle and eat celery sticks for dinner. It’s not true. Despite the fact that you’ve lost the weight many times in the past only to gain it right back, despite your belief that you can’t even look at food without gaining weight. All of those thoughts are just more beliefs that are keeping you stuck. What you focus on becomes your reality. Stop Struggling with Your Appetites I’m a prime example. I don’t struggle. Some days I eat a lot. Some days not so much. Some days very little. Yesterday I ate my usual breakfast and then, strangely, I just didn’t feel hungry all day. I felt different somehow. Not ill, but I just didn’t want to eat. “What’s up with this?,” I thought to myself, but I decided to just ride it out and see what happened. Well, I’m here to tell you that nothing happened. I lived to see another day. Nothing fell from the sky and the world didn’t stop spinning because I didn’t eat much yesterday. It was just another day. Today I ate a few handfuls of malted milk balls. No big deal to me, but I know many of you are thinking, “I’d never be able to eat just some, I’d have to eat them all,” and that is my point. Telling yourself you can’t eat “some,” or as many as you want, but that you believe you’d be compelled to eat them all, no matter how many there are, is a strongly held belief that is keeping you stuck. I don’t believe that to be true, and so, for me it is not true. Changing a Fundamental Belief with EFT How do you change a fundamental belief? You start with basic EFT using it for every issue that pops up, even though they are seemingly not at all related. Use it for every worry, fear, doubt, and struggle. Use it on everything and those issues that do make a difference in your eating will start dissolving away. Try it. What have you got to lose but some weight? Just what is EFT? It’s Emotional Freedom Training and it’s taking the world by storm as an easy, self administered practice to help reduce or eliminate the emotional issues that keep us stuck. Free information is available at EmoFree.com. I added EFT to my toolkit as soon as I learned it because it’s easy to learn, easy to use, and it’s very effective in helping people lose their weight by losing their emotional issues. Remember those healthy folks I mentioned earlier? They don’t view how they eat or how much they exercise as a struggle. They believe they are fit and happy and that life is meant to be lived to its fullest. They are active because they want to be active, and they eat foods that make them feel great. They probably eat some of the things you won’t allow yourself to eat too. These are every day folks who have learned to feel good about themselves. None of them are perfect, despite the common belief that there is some “perfect” body, it’s just not true. Everyone has a wrinkle here, extra skin there. Every single one of us is flawed in some way or another. It’s what makes us unique. Choose to Focus on Benefits, Rather Than Sacrifice Everything worthwhile takes effort; having a baby comes to mind. All mothers will likely agree that childbirth has some negatives (weight gain, pain), but the ultimate reward makes it all worthwhile (yes, some women feel great while pregnant, but I wasn’t one of them). If that were not the case, all kids would be only children. Think about it. What are the benefits to changing your self talk? You’ll start to want to fulfill your words with your actions. You’ll stop the pity part and start the feeling better about yourself party instead. Changing from Negative Self Talk to Positive Self Talk Starting from right now, go get a box of toothpicks or something small you can put in your pocket. Match sticks would work, marbles, small rocks or twigs from the yard. Something small enough you can carry it with you. Whenever you catch yourself starting to say something negative, “I don’t want to …, or, “I hate …,” or “I can’t …,” then say, “STOP,” and replace the words with something positive. “I hate having to wash the … STOP … It feels good getting a chance to stretch and bend while I wash the car.” Yes, it’s stiff and forced, at first. Anytime you attempt to change a behavior it will feel forced. Just allow yourself to learn to change your self talk, and that early discomfort with the process will pass. It will start to be fun to “catch” yourself. As soon as you start doing it, you’ll realize how often you’re been feeding yourself negativity, and you’ll also see how easily you can change that habit. “I’ll never lose this weight STOP I’m feeling better about myself every day. I’m making progress toward my goal.” Even if what you are saying feels like a lie, it’s better to say something positive than to continue feeding your negative words to your brain. Do this with anything negative you catch yourself saying or beginning to say, whether towards yourself or someone else, it doesn’t matter. Work on changing the pattern of saying negative things to yourself. Feed Yourself Positive Messages Start noticing how often you’re feeding yourself negative energy. Then, apply the STOP technique as soon as you realize you are doing it, you yell (to yourself) STOP, and immediately replace what you were saying with something else. Here’s what I mean: Positive people tend to be happier people. I’m not suggesting you get a personality change, but I am suggesting, if you ultimately want to drop some weight and never see it again that you change your thinking from how much you’ll have to struggle to how much better you’re going to feel. Considering learning and using EFT and the Stop technique to help make the change from negative to positive self talk. You can either hear it raining and think, “Great! Now I won’t have to water the lawn,” or, “Great! It’s raining and I wasted my time washing the car.” Rain happens. It’s not a good or bad thing except in how you represent it in your mind. Same with what we eat and what we do from day to day. ~~ Kathryn Martyn, Master NLP Practitioner, EFT counselor, author of the free e-book: Changing Beliefs, Your First Step to Permanent Weight Loss, and owner of OneMoreBite-Weightloss.com Get The Daily Bites: Inspirational Mini Lessons Using EFT and NLP for Ending the Struggle with Weight Loss.
